It was great to have contributed to this piece for The Guardian, and to reflect on attitudes to fundraising in state schools. I was asked why I was more positive than most. It's my job to be positive, to innovate, to create solutions, to gather people around me who want to do the same. What this piece doesn't do is explore the true benefit of fundraising and philanthropy in schools: lasting, valued relationships with donors, volunteers and beneficiaries who, as in any charity, contribute so much more than money. All schools should have those relationships at their heart!!
